How To BBQ On A Budget?
A common misconception is the fact that having a BBQ is expensive. It is not. In fact, if you follow the tips on this page I am sure that you will be able to shave a ton of money off your next BBQ.
Avoid Expensive BBQ Meat Cuts
Firstly; you do not have to buy those expensive cuts of meat when you are trying to BBQ on a budget. Many people find that they have to buy those expensive steaks in order to truly enjoy their food. You don’t.
You can still get tons of flavors from some of the cheapest cuts. If you marinade some of the cheaper cuts, or perhaps put a good rub on them, you will be in BBQ heaven.
Make Dry Rubs
Why buy dry rubs when you can make them at home? Supermarkets put a huge mark-up on their dry rubs and sauces. You should be able to make the majority of them at home without too much hassle. I suggest that you do a bit of research online as I am sure that you will stumble across a multitude of different recipes that you can follow.
Get Meat From Butcher
Buy your cuts of meat from the butcher. Do not buy them from your local supermarket. You will be surprised at just how much money this can save you. You will be even more surprised when you realize that the meat you have bought is far better quality than you would pick up from your local supermarket too!
I am sure that you are going to be serving the basics at your BBQ (basic cuts, burgers, sausages etc.). You do not need to get too fancy with them. This is going to be expensive. It is instead suggest that you get hold of a few toppings. Some salad, cheese, and even some bacon is going to go a long way towards sprucing up that food without spending too much cash.
Don’t Overbuy
I am sure that many people out there are guilty of overspending when it comes to having a BBQ. Try not to do that. Only buy what you are going to eat, plus a small amount extra ‘just in case’. There is absolutely no point in buying tons of meat and other food which will get thrown away pretty quickly.
If you are planning a BBQ for friends and family then you may want to suggest the idea of having a ‘pot luck’. This is going to save you a lot of money as obviously people will turn up to the BBQ with some brilliant food.
Get A Affordable Grill
Buy a decent grill. They tend to cook the food far better and will need a lot less fuel. The food tends to taste better too. I know buying a decent grill goes against the idea of planning a BBQ on a budget, but you have to realize that if you buy a decent grill it will save you money in the long run. This is because you are not going to have to keep buying BBQs year after year.
